About

Mission

  • The Michiana Community Health Coalition's mission is to build bridges between resource navigators and regional health resources to improve public health in the community, support the professional needs of frontline public health workers, and advance research in healthcare, mental health, and social drivers of health.

Vision

Our vision is focused on addressing and speaking about the social and systemic barriers many of us encounter in our day-to-day lives, especially when seeking resources for physical or mental healthcare. Our community alliance is open to new members and ideas as we expand our knowledge and resources in community-based wellness.

MCHC is also focused on building trusting relationships with the members of our community, simultaneously raising awareness on current problems and the many organizations who are encountering and tackling these problems daily.  We learn from each other, support each other, and stay informed on current local resources. We increase equitable access to mental and physical health care to improve the well-being of the entire region.

Values

  • We believe everyone deserves care. Everyone deserves a high-quality life and thorough care for the physical and mental barriers they are facing.

  • We respect cultural and community knowledge. We embrace cultural diversity, cross-cultural communication, and the knowledge our community receives from welcoming a variety of individuals and organizations.

  • We cooperate to improve our community’s access to care. Making time to come together to advocate for each other and feel less alone in our struggles with individual and familial well-being.

  • We add our voices to advocate for those who are most vulnerable. We value those who are willing to be vulnerable, listen, and participate in our research and collaborative efforts.

  • By working together, we can absolutely make a difference.
